Unlike wood, acrylic handles are impervious to extreme temperature or humidity changes and will not crack or split. The acrylic material is heavier than most woods, so I build these batons with fiberglass shafts in order to balance them perfectly. Through careful sanding and buffing, I polish these acrylic handles to a glossy finish that will not wear away with use.
